Working together on The Plate of Tomorrow

Do you want to be a Food Pioneer? (Open application)
At Food Pioneers, we’re building a healthier and more sustainable food system, and we’re always curious about the people who want to help make that happen.
We believe what we eat shapes how we live. Food is connected to our health, climate, biodiversity and social equality. From Almere and Flevoland, we bring together entrepreneurs, researchers, educators, governments and local communities. Different worlds, one shared goal: real, visible progress, socially and economically.
Where you can make an impact
We drive the food transition through three pillars:
Food Labs (research)
We run practice-based research into the future of food. We study what influences consumer behavior and develop interventions that help shift it. For example, our behavioral scientist Mette developed the Bean Food Pairing intervention for Ekoplaza. You can read more read more about our Food Labs here.
Food Programs (Entrepreneurship)
We support ambitious food entrepreneurs who are ready for their next step. Through initiatives such as the Food Pioneers Program (led by project lead Thera) and our entrepreneurs’ drop-in hour (where Willeke helps founders move forward), we help ideas grow into stronger, more sustainable businesses that push the food system in the right direction.
Food Campus (education)
We connect students, teachers and real-world practice. By linking mbo and hbo education to real food challenges, we help train the next generation of professionals shaping the food transition. Anneleid and Guusje do this, for example, through Food Impactmakers.
Open application: build with us
At the moment we don’t have any vacancies, but we’re always open to meeting people who could add something meaningful to our work.
Maybe you’re a connector who brings people together. A sharp-minded researcher. A creative program builder. A project lead who keeps things moving. Or a hands-on doer who turns plans into action.
If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
